sinus lift is a common and frequent dental surgical procedure
Sinus Lift
A sinus augmentation or (sinus lift) is a common and frequent dental surgical procedure. With the loss of a tooth, the now vacant tooth socket will collapse as it recovers, which then leaves a toothless area. This collapse causes a loss in both height and width of the affected jawbone, which then makes it impossible to successfully consider a dental implant for a restoration.
A dental sinus lift improves and corrects the area of your upper jaw in between your molars and premolars. The sinus fills the area in your cheeks on both sides of your nose, between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses. Traynor Periodontics & Implants will lift the sinus membrane to allow space for the bone.
Traynor Periodontics & Implants provides a variety of surgical and non-surgical services for the treatment of periodontal issues. We are well-known for our excellent communication style and warm presence. We are extremely effective with all clinical practices due to our consistent engagement with the innovative, technological improvements in the dental industry. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are very conservative in our treatment recommendations and limit surgery to the areas where it is absolutely necessary. Call Traynor Periodontics & Implants at 203-661-5885 with any questions or to make an appointment for a possible sinus lift.
A sinus lift is an integral component of a specialized bone grafting procedure that will prepare your jaw for a dental implant if your sinuses are too close to your jawbone. By simply lifting your sinuses up and away from your jawbone, adequate space is now created for the jawbone to grow and increase in mass and density in order to be able to support your new dental implant.

About the procedure
The Sinus Lift Procedure
Before we begin your procedure, Traynor Periodontics & Implants will administer a local anesthetic to the specific, immediate area. Once adequately numb, your jawbone is accessed by making small incisions in the molar and premolar areas. Traynor Periodontics & Implants will then make a tiny opening into your jawbone. This allows us to access the membrane that lines your sinus. That membrane is then literally lifted up. The space that is now created with this movement will be filled with a bone grafting material. Synthetic materials are most often used that imitate bone qualities. After the placement of the bone grafting material, the opening is sutured closed, and the wound will naturally heal. Over the next several months, the bone grafting material will be absorbed, bonded, integrated, and become part of your jawbone. When this integration process is completed, you will have sufficient bone mass that will be capable of supporting stable dental implants.
The normal healing time for the sinus lift procedure is usually around four months. After your healing is completed, the dental implant process will be initiated to surgically place the implants in your newly restored jawbone. The bone graft procedure has compensated for the bone which atrophied, allowing for the successful placement of multiple dental implants.
